Clarke smashes his own 200m record

Competing for Buckinghamshire at the Inter-Counties Championships in Bedford Marshall Milton Keynes Athletic Club’s Chris Clarke had a sensational day breaking the Club 200m record twice.

Setting a new Record with 1st of 20.25s in the heats, he then won the title dropping the Record to 20.22s in to a strong headwind placing him 9th on the UK All-time Rankings.

Also at the Championships was Chad Lambert (M23) who was 5th in the 800m finishing in 1m 54.42s just 1.31s behind the winner, while in the 5,000m Lara Bromilow was 6th taking 17m 58.32s and it was 14th in the hammer for Emma Beardmore with a throw of 41.84m.

At an International Meeting in Antwerp, Freddie (M20) and Jackson Curtis finished 3rd and 4th in the javelin throwing 60.26m and 58.85m respectively.

Two club M60 records were broken at the Peterborough City Games as John Browne broke his own 100m time setting the new mark at 12.59s while John Skelton reduced the 880m target to 2m 29.37s.

At the same meeting Laura Cumino (F15) set a PB in the hammer throwing 36.81m with Mike Burling (M55) throwing 29.35m, Laura also threw 21.15m in the javelin and Mike 24.42m in the discus, Jim Lawrence (M55) ran 14.53s for the 100m and John finished the 1500m in 5m 01.88s.

There were more PBs at the Watford Open Meeting with Nathan Nurse (M17) 59.46s, Liam Canning (M17) 61.81s and Corinne Nurse (F35) 64.88s all lowering their 400m bests while Paul Canning (M45) ran 59.17s and Amy Botham (F17) 63.08s.

In the 1,500m, Liam Smith improved to 4m 12.21s and Aaron Wooton (M13) to 5m 41.73s with Chris Hearn finishing in 4m 22.60s, Josh Lyman 4m 32.17s and Daniel Brumby 4m 47.94s.

The last PB came in the 3,000m as Archie Rippin (M17) crossed the line in 8m 49.54s with Sophie Botham (F15) running 11m 34.83s.

At the Coventry 5, Kelvin Smith (2nd M60) was 105th overall in 34m 42s and 112th Geoff New (M45) took 35m 22s.
