Goodwin eases to win at popular Wolverton 5

More than 200 athletes took on the traffic-free Wolverton 5 course at Willen Lake.

Jack Goodwin (Bedford & County) easily won with a time of 23.57. His club mate, Matt Bergen was second (24.24), Toby Spencer (Coventry) placed third (24.25) and Kevin Seward (Cardiff) was fourth (24.32).

The first of the 27 local runners went to Tom Comerford, coming 9th overall in 26.25. Graham Jones ran him close with an outstanding performance, 13th in 26.33 - a new PB. James Tuttle came 24th also setting a PB of 28.16. Steve Herring was next with a time of 28.23. Mark Palser, was 30th (29.09) and Ian Wood 32nd (29.16). Next home was John Skelton clocking a PB of 30.04. Andrew Kirschner ran 30.13, Ross Wood 30.30, Chris Dunn 30.56 and Simon Kirschner-Heavens 31.39.

Rachel Robinson was the first of five MMKAC female runners, 6th overall with 31.56, followed by Alex Knowles (34.49), Siobhan Dyer (35.22), Victoria Kirschner-Heavens (37.44) and Lilli Stickley (38.36).

The other MMKAC finishers were Neil Boddington (32.13), Ken Munro (33.00), Mervyn Phillips (34.45), Les Turton (34.56), Dave Findel Hawkins (36.13/3rd M65), Ivars Licietis (38.52), Kevin Connolly (39.00), Martyn Barnes (40.27), Peter Tye (40.46), Maalcolm Kidby (44.28) and Jim Lawrence (46.07).
