International calls for Joey and Devon

Two of Marshall Milton Keynes Athletic Club’s top women as Devon Byrne is selected to represent Great Britain and and Joey Duck is picked for England Athletics European Indoor Tour Team.

Both will be in action at the end of the month competing with Devon competing against Spain and France in Sheffield while Joey has been selected for a 200m race in Vienna and a 60m race in Linz.

On the second day of the South of England AA Indoor Championships there were two more medals for the Club this time in the F17 Triple Jump Final with a fabulous Gold for Laura Zialor setting a new Personal Best of 11.45m and Lucy Johnston 10.83m secured the Bronze.

Although not making the F20 60m Final Elysia Marriott set a PB in the semi-final finishing 5th in 8.17s. There were more PBs for theF17 squad for both Naomi Greener 8.38s and Lizzie Adam with the same timein the 60m and Lizzie added another in the 200m with 26.78s.

In the Long Jump qualifiers it was 5th for both Naomi Greener 4.97m and Lizzie 4.53m with Naomi Greener taking 6th in the Final with 4.96m.

There was yet another PB for F15 Kate Maddox as she finished 4th in the 800m heats in 2m 38.15s. In a remarkably consistent piece of running M20 Ryan Walker was 3rd in his 60m heat and 5th in the semi-final recording a PB in both races of 7.20s.

The 60m was proving good for the Club and in the M17 event there were PBs for Lee Westley 7.32s, Harrison Caird 7.77s and Caleb Simon 8.31s who also lowered his 200m best to 26.80s. There was less that second difference in the 800m for Archie Rippin as he qualified in 2m 06.39s and finished 5th in the final taking 2m 07.32s.

On the roads at the Fred Hughes 10 mile race in St Albans Michael Kerrigan (M40) was 38th in 62m 18s and in 586th was Rita Olatunde (F45) 96m 46s.

Forty four runners completed the Stantonbury 10k with 1st place going to Jeremy Vick as he finished in 37m 18s next in 4th was Graham Jones 39m 34s followed by 6th Ian Wood 41m 19s, 14th Kevin Church (M40) 45m 28s, 16th Diane Baldwin (F50) 47m 06s, 19th Daniel Weinbren (M50) 47m 28s, 20th Maria Calleia (F40) 47m 37s, 30th Suzanne Golder 56m 28s and 39th Hazel Cockerill (F50) 62m 11s.

On and off the roads at the Wellingborough Multiterrain 10k Mark Dowson was a fine 4th finishing in 39m 02s with 40th Tanya Taylor 46m 51s while over the 15k event Adrian Maidment was 7th in 60m 52s and Ian Pheasey 39th 66m 18s.
