Ladies narrowly miss out on promotion as Bedford edge them out in final match

The ladies of MMKAC narrowlt missed out on promotion to Division 1 after the final UK Women' Athletics League two match.

Southampton won the Division 2 title but it was right down to wire to see whether it would be MMKAC or Bedford who took the 2nd position and the other promotion place.

The MK ladies got off to a perfect start as Emma Beard-more(43.75m) won the “A” hammer and Paige Barnes won the “B” event with 40.35m.

Beardmore also came 3rd in the shot(10.95m) and 2nd in the “B” discus (36.23m).

Emma Beales threw 41.21m for 4th in the “A” discus and placed 2nd in the “B” shot with 10.47m.

Rachel Gibbens won the pole vault with 3.60m and later high-jumped 1.60m for 3rd place.

Kewe King, pictured, cleared 1.45m for 3rd “B” string and triple-jumped 10.37m for 6th.

In this event Lucy Johnson jumped 9.69m for 4th in the “B” event.

On the track, Elle Roche ran 4:30.77 in the 1500m for 3rd. Lara Bromilow raced to 2nd in the 3000m(10:19.12) while Martinha Royles was 4th in the “B” 1500m and 5th in the “B” 800m. Ella de Lucis was 4th in 100m hurdles ( 14.88) and earlier in the 100m and finished 7th (12.76). Anita Dzre was 5th in the “B” 100m(13.31) and 6th in the 200m(27.73). Katie James ran 61.23 for 6th in the 400m and Cirinne Burse was 7th in 800m (2:23.82)
