Redway Runners impress at Festival of Running

More than 250 runners donned the famous green tops of the Redway Runners on Sunday for the Festival of Running.

Many were first timers at their chosen distances and a great deal of effort went into the preparation. There were successes at all levels. 

Among the placed runners in their categories were: 5K – Terence Childs 3rd M40; 10k -Ben Fairhall 2nd overall, Julie Loxley 1st F50, Derek Slann 2nd M60, Alasdair MacIver 2nd M65, Stella Bell 2nd F55 and Gwen Jones 3rd F55; Half marathon – Rebecca Mayles 1st F35, John Loxley 2nd M50, Veritie Yates 1st F45 and Helen Vaughn 3rd F55; 20 mile – Adrian Maidment 2nd M40, Maurice O’Connell 1st M60 and Caroline Beechey 3rd F55.

And a special mention must go to Alan McKinnon, who acted as the guide for blind runner Louise Simpson in the 20 mile race, with the pair completing the race in 4hrs 10mins.
