Olympic champion Greg Rutherford needed just one jump to reach the automatic qualifying distance for the Commonwealth Games long jump final.

The Milton Keynes athlete, and current British record holder, jumped 8.05m with his first attempt, clearing the automatic distance by five centremetres, meaning his work was done in super-quick time on Tuesday morning.

The 27-year-old, who jumped 8.21m in the 2012 Olympic Games in London, now has a day to prepare for the final on Wednesday night.
