Youngster dominate Schools championship

Marshall Milton Keynes Athlete Club’s younger members dominated all six races at the Milton Keynes Secondary Schools Cross Country Championships in Campbell Park.

In the Year 7 category for the Girls Katie Mallaghan won with Montana Edghill 2nd while in the Boys’ race it was 1st for Robert Hickman and 2nd Charlie Sanders. Year 8/9 saw Emma Mears win the Girls’ race with 2nd for Jessica Nuttall with a win in the Boys’ event by Alfie Yabsley and 2nd Harvey Green. Year 10/11 age group had a win for Sophie Botham with Lauren Murphy 2nd while Owen Seamark took top spot for the Boys’ chased by 2ndplaced Archie Rippin.

There was another victory for the Club at the London Cross Country Championships at Parliament Hill Fields as Lara Bromilow , pictured above, crossed the line 1st in 22m 16s.

In Derby at the British Masters Hammer Decathlon/Heptathlon in the F15 Heptathlon with contestants throwing Hammers of 2kg, 2.5kg, 3kg, 3.5kg, 4kg, Scots 3kg and Scots 4kg, event winner Lauren Presswell threw 40.80m, 36.47m, 37.68m, 33.93m, 30.22m, 15.07m and 12.46m respectively.

Despite recording no distance with the lightest implement Paige Barnes still managed 2ndwith her throws of 42.15m, 39.21m, 34.96m, 30.78m, 16.64m and 14.43m. There was also a win for Senior Woman Emma Beardmore with throws of 47.11m (2kg), 44.27m (2.5kg), 42.11m (3kg), 40.46m (3.5kg), 40.18m (4kg), 22.94m (Scots 3kg), 20.44 (Scots 4kg), 19.91m (Scots 5kg), 19.24m (Scots 5.45kg) and 17.63m (Scots 6kg).

With the same weights M70 Jack Kee took another win in his long career with throws of 52.57m, 50.60m, 45.63m, 43.50m, 41.55m, 26.99m, 26.41m, 24.43m, 23.10m and 20.82m.

On the roads Daniel Webber set a new Personal Best of 2h 40m 55s at the Valencia Marathon while closer to home in the Riverside Half Marathon, St Neots it was 95th for Chris Cahill (M40) in 96m 35s.

In Richmond Richard Scrase (M40) was 102nd taking 44m 38s a 10k PB by almost 2 minutes and at the Leeds Abbey Dash 10k Mark Dowson was 528thin 37m 25s.

The ever popular Herbert’s Hole Challenge near Chesham saw Kelvin Smith finish 39th and 3rd M60 in 49m 53s with 67thJim Miller (M60) 52m 45s.

There was yet another PB at the Gosport Half Marathon as 336th Geoff New (M45) crossed the line in 92m 01s with 1280thMartin Salisbury (M50) finishing in 2h 06m 35s.

Liam Smith completed the Brighton 10K in 33m 25s finishing in 22nd.
