Azad remain top after victory

MILTON Keynes Azad stayed clear at the top of the Premier Division as they collected their fourth win of the season with an 83-run victory over Milton Keynes Overseas.

Azad opened with 146-7 as Zaheer Ahmed made 38 not out and Faheem Aftab hit 29. Syed Haider was the pick of the bowlers as he took 3-53.

But despite their modest target Overseas were all out for just 64 runs.

Asif Mehmood bowled 3-15, Nadeem Aftab 3-26 and Mohammed Raza took 2-13 as Overseas simply had no answer to the Azad onslaught.

Milton Keynes City won their third match of the season when they saw off Eversholt by 129 runs.

City opened with 226-5 as Asif Iqbal led the line with 60, Chris Timms hit 40 and Raj Lall 36 not out. Simon Avis took 3-22 in Eversholt's defence.

But Eversholt's hopes of a fightback were soon over as they were reduced to just 97-6, despite a solid 36 from Doug Muzawazi and 23 from Simon Avis.Mo Shahid did the most damage with 2-22.

Shenley Church End are bottom of the Premier Division table despite their 139-run victory of Division One side Open University.

Shenley opened with 212-6, with Anton De Beer hitting a massive 109 not out.

And in reply OU could only muster 73-9 as Adnan Zulfiqar hit 19 while Cedric Miller took 4-10.

Division One side Denbigh Hall Sports are still looking for their first win of the season after they went down to a six-wicket defeat at the hands of Abbey National.

Batting first Denbigh recorded just 79-5, with Martin Stanley top scoring with 15.

Rob Platten was the pick of the bowlers as he took 2-10 and Andrew Threlfall added 2-20.

And Abbey National made light work of their target as they made 81-4, winning with two overs to spare. Andy Hulse led the Abbey attack with his 36 not out.
