Stantonbury side bag national title
Basketball kids secure national success
Marshall Milton Keynes Lions may have missed out on the British Basketball League play-off, but one team did return to the city with some silverware from Birmingham.
As the BBL's elite did battle for the title of play-off winners over the 'finals weekend' at the National Indoor Arena, the Stantonbury Campus basketball side won the Molten 3 on 3 Shooting Stars competition.
A total of 22 schools from across the land took part in the competition with boys and girls agred between 12 and 14 taking part.
The event saw teams split into groups, with the winners and runners-up in each progressing into the semi-finals as games were played in front of 2000 spectators.
The semi-finals in the boys' competition saw Christleton High School of Chester beat Calderstones School of Liverpool 11-10 and Stantonbury Campus beat Stocksbridge High School of Sheffield 9-7.
Then in a tight final Stantonbury Campus beat Christleton High School 11-6 to take the crown.
The NIA also played host to the Hoops 4 Health competition, but after qualifying to represent Milton Keynes, Emerson Valley cchool lost out in the sem-finals.
