Berks & Bucks step in after another kids game gets out of hand
Following Citizen Sport's reports into the anti social behaviour plaguing the fields of Milton Keynes, one young city team has been temporarily suspended from playing games.
This newspaper has reported several incidents of unacceptable behaviour by players and parents on the touchlines of the city since January, and following the latest unsavoury incident, one team has finally been made an example of.
The Berks and Bucks FA have given Fenny Stratford Youth U16s a two-week ban from the Milton Keynes and Border Counties Youth League after an incident during their recent game with Brookfield Rangers FC on February 21.
Fenny Stratford were reported to the county FA after what Brookfield claimed was 'wholly unacceptable behaviour' of their players. The complaint, they claim, relates to the actions of Fenny players on the field of play and for comments made to the watching parents of the U16 top of Division Three fixture.
A shocked father of a Brookfield player told the Citizen how his son was 'kicked off the park' and said that 'if they acted like that in the city centre they would be locked up'.
A spokesman for Brookfield has also confirmed that they will refuse to play Fenny Stratford in their return fixture if the Loughton-based team remain in the MK Border Counties League after their two-week ban.
Fenny's U16 manager, Tom McEvaddy, said their fortnight without playing was more like a 'cooling off period' and said he did not condone the behaviour of his players.
He said: "I told my side after the game that they played well, but had let themselves down. I do not condone the way in which they acted, but they wouldn't have done so without provocation. There is a bigger picture here with regards to who is going referee the parents."
Nobody from the Berks and Bucks FA was willing to comment but a statement made by the MK Border Counties League said: "The matters relating to this match were reported to Berks & Bucks FA. They advised that a number of charges have been raised against Fenny Stratford FC following reports received for a match played against Brookfield.
"The normal FA rules and regulations regarding misconduct charges applies and therefore we can make no other comment until such time as the Berks & Bucks FA has advised us of their final decision."
This is the first time a team has been banned from playing in the league.
