City left fighting for their survival

Milton Keynes City FC are battling hard to secure their future.

The Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division Club are facing a battle for survival following the departure of some of the club's directors.

Chairman Bob Flight said this week that some directors at the club, some of whom have been with the club for almost 20 years, have decided they cannot continue because of a mixture of business and family reasons.

Mr Flight added the club are urgently seeking new blood to take the club forward.

The club, who play at Wolverton Park, have advertised in the non league press for new directors to steer them through their present plight and have even said the club could be bought outright under the right circumstances.

He said: "We want non-league football to continue in Milton Keynes and urgently seek new directors to take the club up to the next level of the pyramid.

" I ask all interested parties to contact me via my e-mail on : bob.flight@daimlerchrysler.co.uk.

Manager Andy Milne said this week he would be continuing as manager and added that the vast majority of last season's squad was still in place.

He said: "I felt we under performed as a squad last season and I expect an improvement from them this season."
