Great Brickhill were left to wonder what might have been after they suffered a seven wicket home defeat to Cherwell League Division One pace setters Horspath.
Fine knocks from Jasper Davies (58), Anton DeBeer (45), Doug Aris (34), Garth Davson (33) and Michael Baker (30) got Brickhill off to a flying start as they went on to set the visitors a good target of 258 to win.
Horspath made a slow start in reply, but didn’t lose many wickets and the class of Robby Eason (95 not out) and Patrick Foster (66 not out) eventually saw them to victory on 258-3.
Although their batting performance offered some positives from the defeat, it was nevertheless Brickhill’s third in a row, seeing them drop to seventh in the table.
Bletchley Town (230-8) remain rooted to the foot of the Division Two pile after a five wicket loss at Bledlow Village (231-5). There were signs of encouragement though, not least a superb 102 from Matt Shephard.
Meanwhile there was a dramatic one run success for Wolverton Town (113) away to Aston Rowant 2nds (112) thanks to Idrees Butt (5-26) and Muhammed Shah (4-56).
In Division Five, Great Brickhill 2nds (218-4) drew with Leighton Buzzard 2nds (276-6) while in Division Six, Wolverton 2nds (194-7) drew against Bledlow Village 2nds (200-6) and there was a 53 run defeat for Bletchley 2nds (139) at home to Bicester & North Oxford 2nds (192-7) in Division Seven.
