Caribbean boys finding life tough going

South Northants, Herts amd Sunday League round-up

Afro Caribbean slumped to their fifth defeat in eight when Byfield 'A' beat them by five wickets in Division One.

Caribbean had recorded a defendable 240-9 with Cedric Miller making 97 and Amir Ali 45, Nigel Cook returning 4-37. But a superb 130 courtesy of Jason Andrews led Byfield home on 241-5, with James Doran chipping in with 46.

Thornborough picked up where they left off last week by thrashing Stoneleigh by eight wickets to claim their fourth victory of the season.

Struggling Stoneleigh were always going to be up against it after being dismissed for just 105, Aiden Birch returning a superb 8-30, supported by Ian Chapman 2-10.

And Thornborough reached their winning target of 107 for the loss of just two wickets as Chapman recorded 25 not out and brother Stuart 25.

Hanslope scored their first win of the season in Division Two when they bowled out lowly Croughton for just 32 in reply to their opening innings of 159-9, Scott Hinshelwood top scoring on 38. And Adam Bushnell with 2-4 and Matt Chilton (2-11) were the best bowlers as Hanslope won by 127 runs.

MK Air made it five wins in eight as they saw off Sibford by 31 runs.

Air totalled 203 all out with Jayesh Shah top scoring on 85, supported by Shailendra Mayekar, before Sibford fell short on 172, Raghav Pyaraka and Jayesh Magodia returning figures of 2-26.

In Division Three Crown are still going strong as their 109-run win against Finmere was their fifth in eight games.

Crown opened with 177-9, Deepak Aggarwal top scoring on 39 and Waqas Nasimi (34) lending good support. In reply Finmere only managed 68 as Nasimi bowled 3-7 and Stuart Clark 4-19.

Thornborough A (87-4) did enough to see off Helmdon (86 all out) by six wickets in Division Five.

>> In Herts League Division Three, Eversholt lost to North Mymms by seven wickets.

Luke Singleton top scored with 54 as Eversholt opened with just 117 as Nigel Farmer (13) and Jack Fuller (10) were the only other batsman to hit double figures.

Simon Avis (2-43) tried his best to delay the inevitable of a North Mymms victory, but it wasn't long in coming as they got home for the loss of three wickets.

There was a better result in the Beds League as Eversholt (121-3) sealed a seven-wicket win against Cople Argus (117 all out), James Garratt leading the scoring with 52 before Luke Kendall hit 24 not out.

Potter's working his magic for Town

Wolverton Town kept pace with Division One leaders New Bradwell by seeing off third placed Castlethorpe by five wickets.

Donald wacked 50 of Castlethorpe's 175 all out as Raja returned 4-41 for his side. And Wolves got home on 176-5 as Potter hit a superb 82 not out.

New Bradwell remain top after their match at Bletchley Town was forfeited by the hosts.

Great Brickhill leapfrogged MK City into fourth place as they cruised to a nine-wicket victory. Timms' 33 got City off to a fine start but they were soon dismissed for just 121 with Boad claiming 4-13. Mcdonald on 66 unbeaten and 45 from Higgs then saw Brickhill home on 123-1.

Wicken continued their domination of Division Two with a 183-run victory over North Bucks Ambulance. A fine century from Roberts and 57 not out from Pollard led Wicken to an opening innings haul of 249-6, before the NBA reply fell woefully short at all out for 66, Winfield making 33.

Olney are Wicken's nearest rivals at the top after they beat Great Brickhill 2nds by eight wickets. Brickhill were dismissed for 133 with Sibley top scoring on 43 as Rice took a good 3-14. And Olney got home thanks to Berrill's 82 as they reached 134-2.

Stony Stratford's six-wicket success over Willen keeps them top of Division Three. Willen set a target of just 88 and the league leaders crossed the line at 90-4 as Lycette hit 42 unbeaten.

>> In the Midweek League, MK Azad (138-8) saw off Speedline (136-9) by two wickets, MK Overseas (121-1) secured a nine-wicket success against Shenley Church End (118-5), and MK City (153 all out) lost out to Wolverton (179-6) by 26 runs.
