Carter hit a mighty 133, while Symmonds joined him at the crease for 87 as the home side looked in total control on their way to 286, bowled out with a ball to spare.

In the field, George Humphries and Satchi Mahendran each took two wickets but Brickhill were unable to stem the flow of runs on a good batting wicket and some late big overs from Aston Rowant (289-6) ensured they reached the target to win with an over to spare.

In Division 2, Wolverton’s batting once again let them down as they collapsed again against league leaders Oxford Downs.

Wolverton, who sit in the bottom two, were bowled out for a long-winded 110, taking 45.1 overs to get there.

Despite taking an early wicket, Wolverton simply didn’t have enough runs to defend as Aston Rowant cruised to 114-3, reaching their total in 20.1 overs.
