North century wins it for Thornborough

The wins keep coming for Thornborough who made it three in a row after an eight-wicket victory over Byfield in Division One.

Robert Oliver hit a huge 117 as Byfield reached 257-8. But Thornborugh were not going to be outdone and 17-year-old Tom North replied with a sensational unbeaten 125 of his own, supported by 81 not out from Ian Chapman, to see their side home on 257-2.

The duo had put on an unbroken 211 partnership for the third wicket.

Afro Caribbean slumped to their sixth loss of the season when they went down to Willoughby by five wickets.

The always free scoring Cedric Miller had got Afro off to a good start as he hit 49 and there was good support from Tony McCourtie (29).

But Willoughby hit back and 89 from Bhavik Solanki helped them to 183-5 in reply.

Thornborough go fourth as Afro stay eighth.

MK Air were the big winners in Division Two as they beat Hanslope by three wickets to go second.

Jon Funnell (28) and Steve Ritchie (18) got Hanslope off to a good start before they fell for 127, Arun Thoppil bowling 4-34. And Air wrapped up the points with ease by making 129-7, despite the efforts of Matt Chilton (3-36).

Crown stay third in Division Three despite going down to top of the table Grange Park by seven wickets.

The league leaders reached 113-3 in reply to Crown's opening innings of just 108 all out. Rob Horspool top scored for Crown with 47 while Ash Day returned 5-42.

In Division Five Silverstone beat Thornborough 'A' who slip to seventh place.

>> Eversholt slipped to their fifth defeat of the season In the Saracens Herts League Division Three when they lost at Ickleford by two wickets.

Eversholt had opened with a defendable 200 after some good batting performances from Josh MacMillan (47) and Nigel Farmer (32).

But Ickleford scrapped their way to the points with 204-8, despite the bowling efforts of MacMillan in the field as he bowled 2-21.

Eversholt remain second In the Beds League Division Two despite losing at third placed Lutonian 2nds by five wickets.

The visitors reached 179-5 as opener Luke Singleton led the scoring with 64. Only three other batsman made double figures with James Garratt making 37, Luke Kendall 30 and Darren Ward 25.

Lutonian reached the target on 180-5 as Singleton did his best to delay the run-rate by taking 3-25.

Bowden does it for Brickhill

Two games were played in the Sunday League at the weekend with Great Brickill and Stony Stratford picking up wins.

In Division Two Brickhill visited Olney Town and the home team were bowled out for just 84, Christian Smail making an unbeaten 42 as Ali Bowden took 3-10.

Brickhill passed the target for the loss of one wicket as Andy Higgs hit 49 not out.

Stony batted first and hit 190-8 at Wolverton as Kabir Arif top scored on 57 while Andy Miller bowled 3-23.

In reply Stony made 190 for the loss of five wickets, Julian Lycettte smashing an unbeaten 90.

>> In the Midweek League MK Overseas (87 all out) lost to Speedline Warriors (88-2) by eight wickets, Warriors' Mohammed Raza bowling a superb 4-18.

MK City (103-7) lost out to Shenley Church End (153-5) by 50 runs. And Wolverton (118-8) lost to MK Azad (127) by nine runs, Asim Hussain hitting 59 for Azad.

In Division One Eversholt (127-6) went down to Abbey National (161-9) by 34 runs, with James Fletcher scoring 47 for Abbey.

Bletchley Town (87-4) beat Denbigh Hall Sports (86 all out) by six wickets.

In the Midweek Cup there were wins for MK Overseas, MK Azad and Speedline.
