Rushden put Stony to the sword

Stony Stratford were dragged back into the Northants League Premier Division relegation scrap after losing to Rushden Town by eight wickets on Saturday.

Having been put in to bat, Stony lost opener Mark Hulbert early, but a partnership between James Pickles (26) and Teja Nidamanuru (51) steadied the ship somewhat.

But a middle-order collapse left Stony toiling on 92-5. Some big hitting down the order from Alex Strong (23) and Kamran Anwar (35) helped Stony to finish on 195 all out.

Rushden lost two early wickets but came unstuck against Sam Kumar (69 not out) and Christian Davis, who scored a wonderful 113 not out, including a six to win it for the visitors, who finished on 201-8.

The result sees Stony drop to ninth in the table.
