Dons get Irish winger on loan

Man City youngster signs

MK Dons have added 18-year-old left sided midfielder Donal McDermott to their squad in time for Saturday's trip to Oldham.

The highly-rated youngster came through the youth ranks at the City of Manchester Stadium and will eligible to play in both League One and Johnstone's Paint Trophy matches for Dons.

His loan could also be extended beyond the initial one month deal.

After training with his new team-mates for the first time this week, Donal said: "I'm delighted to be here and I'm looking forward to helping the team continue their good start to the season.

"This is a good opportunity for me to play some competitive football with a team and under a manager that like to play the game in the right way."

Dons manager Roberto Di Matteo said: "Donal will give us some more options in wide areas and bring some added pace and quality to the team.

"We need to be patient with him because he is only 18 but he is an exciting player with a good background and I'm hopeful we can make the loan long-term."

Subject to the completion of his registration, Donal will be eligible to play for the Dons in Saturday's League 1 trip to Oldham Athletic.
