Debut specialist Wootton admits a nervous summer
The 24-year-old met Ed Upson’s 94th minute free kick to nod home the winner - his fourth goal while making a debut for a club.
“I can’t explain it. I scored on my league debut for Tranmere, my second debut at Peterborough and for Leeds in the Cup at Doncaster. But today tops the lot, with it being the winner. The most important thing though is the win.

“We had the better of the chances, and on a different day, we’d have had a lot more. But it’s not a bad way to do it, in the last minute.
“We didn’t play as well as we’d have liked, but we have come away with the win just showing the desire and mentality to win. It’s funny how it works sometimes.”
It was a nervous summer for Wootton. After being released by Leeds at the end of last season, the defender didn’t sign for Dons until a couple of days before the season started - giving him a few sleepless nights.

“But the later it went on, I was desperate to be involved for the first game of the season. To be honest, the experience I had playing against MK Dons last season meant as soon as they showed interest, I knew where I wanted to come.
“They battered Leeds twice last season, to be honest. I know they’ve got a great opportunity going up to the Championship.”
