BUCKS Sport, Hertsmere Leisure, MK Dons and Milton Keynes Council are working together to launch four new ‘Just Play’ centres in Milton Keynes where people can turn up and play football for free.

The Just Play Centres are part of the new FA Mars national initiative which aims to bring the fun back into football for those who just want a kickabout.

Anyone from the age of 16 years old can get involved in the kickabouts which have a strong focus on non competitive, casual small sided football.

Part of a national programme, these local kickabout sessions will be delivered by experienced coaches, and Dennis Woolford from MK Dons, is happy to support the programme.

He said: “To make playing footy as easy as possible, there’s now this new, fun and informal way to play the game.

“Our coaches will be on hand to organise to support players from those who are new to the game to those who really want to improve their skills. So whether you’re new to the game, have loved it all along but just got out of practice or simply want to get fit again, it’s a great team sport everyone can enjoy.”

Just Play kickabouts are great for when you just want to turn up and play – without having to commit to a weekly game, a complicated league, organising equipment or players and making sure the kit’s washed. It’s about loose, casual fun. Whether it’s a good old-fashioned kickabout or a more competitive game you’re after, there really is something for everyone.

For instance there’s the option to play ‘5-a-side’ if you fancy fast, competitive, small-sided skilful football. It’s also a great way of getting an ‘after work or college’ work-out with a bunch of mates.

If you’re a man or a woman over 16 years who wants to return to football or just play some more, you qualify. From October 31 to November 20 you can just turn up, quoting the phrase ‘Just Play MK’ and you and up to four of your mates can try it out absolutely free at the following venues.

Downs Barn Pavilion, from 7-8 pm every Wednesday, call MK 622937.
