Olney Town Colts received a huge boost this week after securing a £40,000 grant from Sport England.
The money, from the Inspired Facilities Fund, will go towards to cost of a much-needed, brand new changing room complex for the young players at the club.
Colts Club Chairman, Ian Stokes said : “ We are obviously overjoyed by this award as it now means that we can provide our 300 youth players with their own facilities, and continue to improve standards on and off the pitch.
“We have grown from just three teams to 24 teams in the last seven years, and without the support of Olney Town Council and other local sports clubs, none of this would have been achievable.
“We are very grateful to everyone that has helped us to date, and look forward to a successful future developing local youth football and being able to offer use of our changing rooms to other clubs in the town.”
And Tony Evans, Chairman of Olney Town Councils Recreation and Services Committee added: “It is wonderful news that Olney Town Colts FC has secured Olympic Legacy Funding to help them provide changing facilities specifically for the many Colts Sides.
“We are extremely fortunate in Olney to have so many adults giving their time to provide coaching for young people in many sports but particularly I know how hard the Colts FC work both with coaching and arranging matches and fundraising for kit and better facilities.
“The town Council are proud to be able to provide playing facilities for the Colts and will strive to provide more in the future.’’
