NEWPORT Pagnell Town entertain Huntingdon on Tuesday night, looking to address a run of two straight defeats.

The Swans were unbeaten for their first eight games of the United Counties League Premier Division season, but Saturday’s 2-1 home loss to Holbeach United made it two defeats in a row, having also lost at Stewarts & Lloyds Corby last midweek.

For Holbeach their Willen Road success made it nine wins out nine, but having played fewer games than their rivals, they have to make do with second place in the table, while Newport slip to fifth – now seven points off top spot.

Saturday was also a day to forget for Olney Town who suffered their fifth UCL Division One defeat out of seven, going down 4-1 at home to Northampton Spencer.

Stony Stratford Town enjoyed their biggest victory of the South Midlands League Division One season – 6-0 away at Sun Postal Sports which lifts them to 11th place.

In Division Two, Old Bradwell United lost 1-0 at Risborough Rangers and Wolverton Town’s match at Aylesbury Reserves was postponed.

Cranfield United suffered a 3-1 home defeat to Langford in the Beds Senior Trophy first round.

They will look to return to winning ways when they face Buckingham Athletic in SML Division One on Tuesday night, while bottom side New Bradwell St Peter host Crawley Green in search of their first win of the season.
