NEWPORT Pagnell Town’s impressive start to the United Counties League Premier Division season continued on Saturday as they stretched their unbeaten run to six with victory at Peterborough Northern Star.
The Swans snatched a late decider to leave with a 3-2 win, lifting them to fourth place in the table and just three points adrift of early leaders St Ives Town, with a game in hand.
Dom Lawless opened the scoring for the Swans on 13 minutes, and just moments later he was at it again, converting a free-kick to double the away lead.
Nick Davey cut the deficit on the half hour, and as a frantic opening 45 minutes came to an end, Star drew level through Billy Smith.
However, the second half brought only one goal – Jared Cunniff netting the decider in favour of Darren Lynch’s men, who could go top of the pile if they see off struggling Sleaford Town on Saturday and other results go their way.
