Lavendon bounce back to topple rivals

Lavendon bounced back from Saturday's defeat to record a 3-2 win over title rivals AFC Brickhill Rangers on Tuesday.

Rangers had closed the gap to just one point with a game in hand but the advantage is back with Lavendon after Tuesday's win and a victory at home to Bletchley Manor on Saturday will clinch the title.

Lavendon took a 2-0 lead before Rangers hit back with two goals from Jay Troughton, Lavendon sealing the win 15 minutes from time.

Lavendon had suffered a shock 3-2 defeat at Bletchley Manor on Saturday, Manor captain Mike Landy scoring twice with the other goal from Scott Macfarlane.

While Lavendon were losing at Bletchley Manor, Rangers were beating Stewkley 7-1 with goals from Lambert (2), Rowe, Troughton, Bateman and Tanner (2), Rangers having also recorded a 5-2 home midweek win over Southcott RA with goals from Watt, Bateman, Rowe (2) and McCrory.

A hat-trick from Ben Watts and a goal from Luke Davies saw Thornborough Athletic to a narrow 4-3 win at Bletchley Trees, Homer (2) and Loot netting for the losers.

Brackley Sports won 3-0 at MK Titans and one other midweek game had seen Jones and Parsons score for Bletchley Manor in the 2-1 win over Deanshanger.

Sherington edged nearer the Intermediate Division title – without playing. They were awarded the points with Brackley Sports Reserves unable to raise a side.

PB Wolverton Town completed their fixtures with a 5-1 home win over Abbey, the goals from Pacey (3), O'Connor and Brown. Castlethorpe were 3-0 winners over Twyford, Great Linford won 2-1 at Hanslope while Silverstone won 4-2 at Workplace Wanderers.

One point separates Woburn Sands Wanderers and Potterspury at the top of Division One, the teams having one game each to play. Potterspury closed the gap on the leaders with a 3-1 win over them on Saturday.

E&H were 6-0 winners at Lavendon Reserves, with goals from Scott (2), McLaren (2), Custance and Pauley while PB Wolverton Town Reserves shared a goalless draw at MK Wanderers.

Midweek games had seen PB Wolverton Town Reserves beat Titans Reserves 3-1 with Bland, F Mundy and M Mundy on target.

Westbury are the champions of Division Two, the side drawing 1-1 at Charlton in midweek. Heath Panthers are set to finish runners-up but they lost 3-0 at home to RBL on Saturday.

Deanshanger Reserves were 9-2 winners over Marsh Gibbon Reserves, Charlton won 3-0 at Horwood Reserves and Grendon beat Linford Reserves by the odd goal in five.
