North Bucks League: Loughton still going strong

IT’S starting to look like a two-horse race at the top of the Premier Division with Potterspury and Loughton Manor going blow for blow.

Both sides returned from the winter break with good results – Potterspury winning 3-1 away to Yardley Gobion as Loughton as edged past City Colts in a 2-1 home win.

Still two points behind Potterspury, Loughton now have a six-point gap to Colts in third, although they do have a game in hand.

Also in the Premier Division, Great Linford beat Brackley Sports 3-2 and MK Titans fell 5-1 to Grendon Rangers.

Intermediate Division table toppers Woburn Sands Wanderers suffered a third defeat of the season when they lost 4-2 to Grendon Rangers Res.

Woburn still have a four-point lead over second placed Buckingham Town Res who thumped Hanslope 5-0, while AFC Santander thrashed Potterspury Res by the same score and there was a 1-1 draw for Denbigh Hall Sports at Wicken Sports.

Division One leaders Bow Brickhill Res took a break from league action to beat Olney 2-0 in the Division One Trophy second round.

In the league itself there was a 6-5 defeat for Great Linford Res against Charlton & District and 4-1 victory for Stoke Hammond over Wicken Sports Res.

MK Wanderers ‘A’ thrashed Yardley Gobion Res 4-0 in Division Two, while Stantonbury Social Elite demolished Padbury Village Res 8-1, Scot Youth were held 1-1 by Twyford United and Hanslope Res lost 2-1 at Westbury.

In the Division Two Trophy second round there was a 4-3 success for St George’s over Wing Village, while the only Interdivisional Trophy first round tie saw a 3-1 defeat for Wolverton Town Res against Great Horwood.
