Stoyles staying on as Stony manager

Attention turns to plans for next season

Stony Stratford Town Football Club have confirmed that Jimmy Stoyles will continue as first team manager in the new season.

Stoyles guided Stony to 13th place in South Midlands League Division One last term after the club put its faith in youth.

But now Stoyles is looking for improvement in his young side this coming season and looking to challenge on all fronts. He said: "I believe that the players have grown massively.

"If we can keep the better ones here and add three or four more experienced player then the future looks bright.

John Hill will continue as the first team's assistant manager as will Lyn Callier in her role as club physiotherapist.

But the club have announced that Mark Hardy is stepping down from his role as reserve team manager.Peter Cox will take over from Hardy as reserve team manager, with Barry Bellhouse becoming player coach.

The first team returned to training in June, with the opening day of the new season scheduled for August 8.

Stony host Southern League side Aylesbury United on July 18 in their first pre-season fixture at Ostler's Lane.

>> Meanwhile New Bradwell St Peter will welcome back last season's first-team for training on June 30, with three sessions a week planned for Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays up until the first league game.

Anyone wishing to attend training is welcome but must first make contract with boss Steve Tucker on 07957 767 372.

Peters finished sixth in SML Division One last time out and start their pre-season campaign with a friendly at Mursley United on July 18 followed by a trip to Newport Pagnell Town a week later. Windsor and Eton are the first side to visit the Recreation Ground on August 4.
