NEWPORT Pagnell Town’s run in the FA Vase came to an abrupt end on Saturday when they lost 2-1 at home to Enfield 1893.

Having reached the fourth round for the first time in the club’s history last season, the Swans were unlucky to bow out at the second round stage at Willen Road.

All three goals came in the second half, with Keith Williams equalising for the hosts before the Essex Senior League side went back in front. Dom Lawless had a late chance to send the game to a replay, but his strike came back off the post.

Olney Town lost 2-1 at Pitstone & Ivinghoe in the Berks & Bucks Intermediate Cup third round, while Stony Stratford Town ran out 5-0 winners at Penn & Tylers Green and New Bradwell St Peters were 4-0 victors at Bedgrove United.

In South Midlands League Division One, Cranfield United crashed 3-1 at home to Southall, while in Division Two Old Bradwell United lost 4-3 at Broxbourne Borough and Wolverton Town were beaten 2-1 at home by Mursley United.

Tuesday night’s SML Division One fixtures see Stony host Kings Langley and New Bradwell visit Bedford.
