Dons got their domestic pre-season campaign underway with a successful double header on Saturday.
Karl Robinson was able to field two different sides against Aylesbury FC and then later Stony Stratford Town in Dons’ first games back in England since their tour of Ireland.
And it was a winning return too, courtesy of Danny Green’s penalty giving Dons a successful start to the day at Aylesbury’s Haywood Way.
New signing Will Grigg came close to opening the scoring a day after he signed on a season-long loan from Brentford.
Ben Reeves got his first minutes since injury in March ruled him out for the end of last season, and he too came close to putting Dons ahead.
But it was Green’s penalty 10 minutes after half-time which gave Dons the lead after Will Summerfield was pulled down in the box.
Satisfied with his side’s performance, Robinson switched his attention to Ostlers Lane, where Dons ran riot against Stony Stratford Town.
Another new striker, Tom Hitchcock, opened the scoring for Dons after 10 minutes.
Daniel Powell doubled the lead after 23 minutes, Hitchcock added his second four minutes before half time, and Powell did the same two minutes later.
Stony Stratford pulled one back before Head Apprentice Gedeon Okito added a fifth on the hour mark.
In an afternoon of braces, second year scholar Laurence Vaughan added two more late on to complete the rout.
Next up for Dons is a trip to take on Dagenham and Redbridge on Tuesday night.
