Baldock has signed a new two-year deal to remain at Stadium MK until summer 2018.

The 23-year-old impressed last season while on loan at Oxford United, prompting the manager to claim he was the best in League 2 before recalling him in January.

Upon his return, Baldock made 15 appearances in the Championship, becoming Robinson’s first choice right back.

And after being rewarded with a new contract, Robinson has challenged Baldock to become the best in his position in the league.

“I want George Baldock to be the best right-back in the league, that’s the challenge I’ve set him,” he said.

“He has a huge number of attributes and I have tremendous faith in him. He only changed his position three seasons ago and he’s worked extremely hard.

“He knows what I think of him – off the field, I think the world of him. On the field, where he is judged, he is a top right-back.

“It’s great news for the football club.”

Baldock added: “I’m absolutely delighted to be staying. I love playing for the football club – the manager, the lads, the staff and the fans have been great to me.

“I really want to kick on and my aim is to help the club hopefully have a successful one this season.”
