SAM Baldock’s big-money transfer from Dons to West Ham is still not officially confirmed, but Dons have announced the signing of Charlie MacDonald from Brentford.
The 30-year-old joins on a two-year contract for an undisclosed fee and will go straight into the squad to face Stevenage in League 1 on Saturday.
Dons boss Karl Robinson said: “I’m really excited to have Charlie at the club. He’s a natural born goal scorer and his record of 40 goals in 111 League appearances for Brentford speaks for itself.
“He’s a player we have watched closely for a while now and we’re delighted to have beat off competition from a number of others clubs to capture his signature.”
MacDonald himself said: “It’s been a whirlwind couple of days for me. I had talks with another League 1 club which was close to happening but when MK Dons came in there was only one move for me.”
1pm: SAM Baldock will complete his big-money move from Dons to West Ham today and Brentford striker Charlie MacDonald will replace him.
MacDonald has been training with his new team-mates today, while the Hammers have beaten Southampton to the signing of Baldock, thought to be for around £2 million.
It’s believed Baldock is currently having a medical at Upton Park and all being well the transfer should be completed this afternoon.

Charlie MacDonald will join Dons from League 1 rivals Brentford, and would go straight into the squad to face one of his former clubs when Stevenage come to stadium:mk tomorrow (Saturday).
The 30-year-old has a good goal-scoring record in the non-League with the likes of Crawley Town and Gravesend & Northfleet, and has scored more than 40 goals in over 100 appearances for the Bees.
9am: SAM Baldock appears to have played his last game in a Dons shirt, although his destination has not yet been confirmed.
It seems to the 22-year-old’s performance against Chesterfield and Norwich have finally earned him a big money move away from stadium:mk, with West Ham and Southampton thought to be the front runners for his signature.
The Citizen understand that a bid of around £1.5 million from the Hammers was rejected on Wednesday, but that an improved offer – possibly as high as £2 million – may now have been tabled and accepted by Dons. And it’s believed that Baldock has already held talks with at least one club.
Dons boss Karl Robinson spoke on Thursday to confirm significant interest in Baldock who already has six goals to his name this season, and seemed resigned to losing him before Saturday’s League 1 game against Stevenage.
Now the focus is on a replacement and there are rumours suggesting a new signing is already imminent.
