Injured midfielder Samir Carruthers has been forced to cut short his loan spell with MK Dons after suffering a knee injury.
The 20-year-old midfielder made 27 appearances for Dons after signing from Aston Villa in August, scoring twice.
His original deal was set to expire in January, but it was extended until the end of the season.
Having become a regular in Karl Robinson’s first team, he lasted just 12 minutes in last week’s game against Preston North End before hobbling down the tunnel with a knee injury - one which forces him to cut short his time at stadium:mk.
Meanwhile, Stephen Gleeson has been ruled out of Saturday’s match with Sheffield United after picking up a thigh strain against Oldham on Tuesday night, while Ben Reeves is rated ‘touch-and-go’ as to whether he will be fit in time to face the Blades.
