MK Dons 2-0 Morecambe (Carabao Cup third round)

League form will continue to be their focus, but cup competitions could offer MK Dons something different this season, according to Warren O’Hora.

The Irishman fired in his first goal of the season to get Dons on their way in a routine 2-0 win over League One counterparts Morecambe on Tuesday night, throwing their name in the hat for Thursday’s fourth round draw.

O’Hora and his team-mates are also still in the FA Cup and face Portsmouth in the second round later this month, while await their fate in the Papa John’s Trophy, with the draw being made on Friday.

For the defender, the league will remain the most important competition they play in this season, but he said cup competitions will also be important for Dons.

He said: “First and foremost our focus is the league but we can go on some cup runs, into the second round of the FA Cup, and the fourth round of the Carabao Cup now, and we'll look forward to Thursday's draw.

“It's another game for us, another chance for some of the lads who haven't got much time in the league to get minutes and show what we can do.”

On the game, O’Hora added: “The opposition, no disrespect, were not quite up to the calibre of our league so we knew we had to keep the ball and be patient. The lads did really well with that, and controlled the game as much as we could. They had a little spell for about 10 minutes which all teams have, we had to grind that out, but we got back on it and put the game to bed.

“We're still very aware of where we are in the league but we can only play the next game that comes, whether it's in the cup or the league.”
