The battle to become Dons’ number one goalkeeper has been hotting up this summer, but Karl Robinson looks set to give David Martin the nod ahead of Ian McLoughlin.
McLoughlin showed off his abilities in the final three months of last season after Martin suffered a back injury which kept him on the sidelines.
But back to full fitness, Robinson will go with his more experienced keeper, though expects a fierce fight from McLoughlin to get back in the side and become number one keeper.
He said: “It’s a tremendous battle for the goalkeeping jersey. David has raised his game in pre-season, and Ian has raised it again. But that’s what you want.
“Ian is a fans hero for his goalkeeping and his Twitter comments. He’s going to be a huge asset for the future of the club and he’s wonderful to work with.
“People will always ask whether they’re on a level playing field, but I think they are. Dave has had a brilliant pre-season and Ian has as well.
“I think Dave has more experience in certain situations but Ian is a fantastic goalkeeper.”
