Disappointed Robbie Neilson felt Dons were lucky to grab a point against Rochdale

While the 2-2 draw looked action packed, the quality was few and far between, especially from the home side. Dale had four gilt-edged chances in the first half to put the game to bed, but only had Steven Davies' header after 17 minutes as their reward.

The second half appeared to be a similar story until substitute Kieran Agard poked home Ben Tilney's cross with 19 minutes to go.

Rochdale thought they'd won it with five minutes to go when Nathaniel Mendez-Laing struck from just inside the box, but Ben Reeves would have the final say in stoppage time, rattling home the equaliser.

While his side snatched a point from the jaws of defeat, Neilson felt his side deserved nothing from the game.

"I thought it was really poor and we're lucky to get away with a point," he said. "Rochdale were the more aggressive, they had the better chances, so it wasn't good enough from us. You have games like that during the season, and we need to improve on that.

"I didn't think we were aggressive enough, moving forward we weren't aggressive enough. We didn't put it through the line we wanted to either. We had two tough games at Bradfford and Millwall when we had to stand up, be men and be aggressive, but we didn't do that here today.

"I had a pop at them at half time, and we got a bit of reaction, but it shouldn't be like that. We should be controlling games here. Everything was poor, and we accept that. We have to make sure it won't happen again.

"There will be games like this in football, even if things are going well you get games where it just doesn't happen. Today, we continued to do the same thing time and again. We got back into the game, but we gave away a sloppy goal late on. Thankfully we got the break at the end. But we take a point and move on to the huge game on Tuesday.

"There wasn't a lot of quality from either side, but the majority of good things for us were coming through Harvey or Ben Reeves. They're two key players for us.

"The message is that that isn't acceptable, not what we want, and it's not MK Dons. It happens, you have the odd game here or there, but our focus now is on Tuesday to put in a performance."
