MK Dons are among 12 teams handed fines by the EFL for fielding weakened teams in the Checkatrade Trophy.

Having already qualified ahead of their final group game against Norwich last week, Richie Barker fielded a second-string squad against the Canaries despite rules stating he must field five players from the previous or next game - Dons fielded four for the dead rubber.

While Portsmouth and Luton were fined £15,000 for breaches in all three games, Dons were joined by Bradford, Blackpool, Bristol Rovers, Millwall, Charlton, Peterborough, Sheffield United, Southend and Fleetwood in netting £3,000 fines.

Dons will face Yeovil Town in the next round of the much-maligned competition.
