Karl Robinson hopes Tom Hitchcock will add ‘poacher’s goals’ to the Dons ranks as he confirmed the signing of the striker.
The 21-year-old was released by Queens Park Rangers at the end of the season, having spent time on loan at Crewe and Rotherham last term.
Hitchcock scored nine goals last season, including a hat-trick in Rotherham’s 4-3 victory over Gillingham.
He has signed a three-year deal with Dons, keeping him at the club until 2017.
And his new manager is excited about what he can be capable of.
“He’s a goal-scorer,” Robinson said. “He’s still young, he’s got an awful lot to learn, but I’m delighted he has chosen us to ply his trade.
“He scores forward’s goals, poacher’s goals, clever goals. He’s a technically gifted footballer.
“We’ve not had a fox in the box for a long time. We’ve had good strikers, but Ryan Lowe was probably as close as we came.
“Tom is a lot younger though!”
Hitchcock said: “I’m buzzing and I can’t wait to get started. It’s an exciting time for me.
“There were a few clubs interested but as soon as I knew MK Dons were in for me, there was no other choice. I’ve played against them before and the football team play is really attractive and will suit me well.
“I’m quite a clever player and I link up quite well but it’s all about goals for me, really. I’ve just got to work as hard as I can and hopefully score a few.”
