International call for Dons defender Tom Flanagan
Tom Flanagan
DONS defender Tom Flanagan has been called up to the Northern Ireland U21 squad for their International Challenge Match with England on Tuesday, November 13.
Flanagan, who has been on loan at League 2 leaders Gillingham since the start of the season, has been in top form for Martin Allen’s side and has done enough to earn himself his first call up to the international scene.
The 21-year-old will link up with his Irish team-mates on Sunday, November 11 before taking on an England U21 side at Blackpool’s Bloomfield Road ground.
The Dons centre-half has made 12 appearances for the Gills this campaign and even found the back of the net in their 4-1 win over Burton Albion in October.
Flanagan came through Dons’ Academy set-up to make his debut for the first team against Carlisle United in February 2010, and impressed last year having played in 23 League games for Karl Robinson’s side. And it appears his good form has continued during his time at Priestfield.
