DONS midfielder Jay O’Shea has become the fifth senior player to leave the club on loan this season, joining League 2 side Chesterfield.
The 24-year-old joined Dons a free transfer from Birmingham City 18 months ago, but despite making 35 apperances last season – many as a substitute – the Irishman hasn’t been able to hold down a regular starting place.
O’Shea impressed on a rare start against Cambridge City last week, scoring to take his goal tally for the season to two, having also netted against Notts County in September.
He will be available for Chesterfield’s home game against Cheltenham tonight, and the loan deal runs until and including Saturday, January 5.
The move makes O’Shea the fifth Dons player to be sent out on loan this season, with George Baldock and Charlie Collins both at Tamworth, Jabo Ibehre at Colchester and Tom Flanagan at Gillingham.
