Dale Jennings has been a failed gamble so far, Dons boss Karl Robinson has admitted.
The 22-year-old former Bayern Munich winger was a hit at stadium:mk when he was on loan from Barnsley in December 2013.
But he failed to shine on his return to Oakwell, and after being released, was snapped up by Robinson in the summer.
Jennings though has made just two appearances this season, and hasn’t been a part of any Dons matchday squad since August 15.
Jennings’ fitness has been a concern for Robinson as he battles to lose weight and overcome injury. And while his manager has suggested he go out on loan, Robinson also knows his gamble has failed to pay off so far.
“Dale Jennings hasn’t worked yet,” said Robinson. It was my wildcard. He has a lot to do, and he owes a lot of people. We all know the talent he has.
“He’s a top footballer, but he needs to realise football isn’t just about what you do on the training pitch, but away from it as well. He’s carrying a bit of extra weight.
“Maybe putting it out publicly, he might sort it out.
“But I believe in him. But he needs to realise that.”
