Kids do well, but senior Dons suffer county cup shocker

TWO Dons teams were in action on Monday night and their respective defeats have been met with contrasting reactions from players and fans.

The club’s U16s helped put on a good show as they lost 4-1 to their Arsenal counterparts in the ‘Jim & Gwen Mann Challenge Cup’ at stadium:mk – a match watched by more than 1,500 fans.

However, a strong Dons side were embarrassed in a 3-0 Berks & Bucks Senior Cup semi final defeat at Beaconsfield SYCOB.

Managed by Alan Smith, the team included the likes of Izale McLeod, Mathias Kouo-Doumbe, Antony Kay and Ryan Lowe, plus squad players Tom Flanagan and George Baldock, and academy stars Dele Alli and Brendan Galloway.

But despite the best efforts of young goalkeeper Charlie Burns, the Evo-Stik League Southern Division One Central side scored once before the interval and then twice late on to stun Dons, who dominated large parts of the game but couldn’t find the back of the net.

However, the club’s U16s played their part in an entertaining stadium:mk clash, with hotshot striker Giorgio Rasulo improving his already glowing reputation with Dons’ only goal.
