Swansea striker James Loveridge has joined MK Dons on loan for a month.
The 19-year-old met up with his new team-mates on Tuesday ahead of his first professional outing, likely to be on Saturday against Stevenage.
But despite his inexperience, Robinson hopes he has discovered the next Patrick Bamford.
Robinson said: “He’s quick, quick, quick!
“I’m trying to find a new Patrick Bamford. I want to bring him in for a month, bed him in, and if he works out, keep him here for a year.
“Hopefully, James can be the boy. If we don’t try it, we won’t know.”
And Robinson hopes his development at Swansea will help him understand Dons’ style of football.
He said: “He’s grounded in the Swansea way, so there’s a connection automatically. Speaking to him, I’m speaking in numerical positions and immediately he knew what I was talking about.
“He wants to be a number 9 eventually, but he can play anywhere in the front three. He’s something different.
“It’s his first loan, so we have see to if he can make the transition to senior football.”
