McFadzean departs for Burton Albion

Kyle McFadzean has left MK Dons to join Championship side Burton Albion for an undisclosed fee.

The wantaway defender handed in a transfer request after rumours of a move to boyhood club Sheffield United arose, and didn’t report back for pre-season training with the rest of the team last month.

Dons boss Karl Robinson admitted he had had no contact with his defender, and refused to sell the 29-year-old defender to a League 1 rival, but instead agreed a deal with Nigel Clough’s side.

Robinson had initially said he wanted £500,000 for McFadzean, though the deal is understood to be below the asking price. However, there are add-on clauses to bolster the sum in the future.

McFadzean made 80 appearances in his two seasons at stadium:mk, scoring three times.

He moves to the Pirelli Stadium for a record fee on a three year deal.
