IAN McLoughlin has completed an emergency loan deal to Walsall.
Rumours circulated around stadium:mk on Saturday when the 21-year-old keeper was left out of Karl Robinson’s squad to face Bury, and the deal was announced early on Sunday morning.
He was thrown straight into the Saddlers’ starting line-up for Sunday’s clash with Preston North End after Karl Darlow was recalled by parent club Nottingham Forest.
McLoughlin, whose only other appearance this season came in the League Cup against Sunderland, impressed between the sticks at Deepdale, making several important saves on the way to the 3-1 Walsall victory.
“He is a goalkeeper that I have spoken to Karl Robinson [MK Dons manager] about on a number of occasions this season,” said manager, Dean Smith. “Having seen Karl Darlow recalled last week, I feel that Ian can come in and provide competition here.
“He is a young lad who is looking forward to getting games under his belt and I feel that he will fit in extremely well here.
“It was nice to see the young lad come in in goal and do well. He made a couple of good saves, kicked well and communicated with the defenders in front of him.”
The loan will run until Saturday February 9.
