KARL Robinson has put pen to paper on a new three-year deal, just six months after signing a similar contract extension.

Robinson and his assistant John Gorman, who signed an 18-month deal, committed their futures to MK Dons on Saturday before the 1-0 defeat to Preston North End at stadium:mk.

Announcement came just weeks after Robinson was subject to speculation linking him to clubs outside of League 1, most notably Nottingham Forest after they parted company with Billy Davies in October.

But Robinson said he is fully committed to getting Dons into the Championship and is delighted to have signed his new deal.

“I have never had any intention to leave this Football Club, despite what reports elsewhere may have suggested,” he said.” Feeling the hurt of the play-offs last season has only helped drive myself, John and the players on and make us all the more determined to get into the Championship.

“John and I both want to build a legacy at MK Dons Football Club, with the football we have implemented we feel we have gone some way in starting it but our number one priority is to get out of this League and if over the next five months the players can replicate the hard work, endeavour and passion that they have shown, I firmly believe it is a realistic target.”

And Chairman Pete Winkelman admitted that there had been interest in his managerial staff, but said he was pleased to keep hold of them for the time being.

He said: “It has been no secret that the excellent work both Karl and John have been doing has caught the attention of a number of clubs in higher divisions, they have both expressed their desire to stay here and I am delighted we have been able to confirm this commitment with new deals.

“For the first summer in the Club’s history we were blessed with stability in the managerial department and I believe we are reaping the rewards of that with the football being played and the position we currently find ourselves in.

“There is still a lot of hard work to be done to continue to strengthen the Club and achieve our ambitions, but this is the best early Christmas present for every MK Dons fan who is behind Karl, John and the team.”
