New striker on the horizon with Church free to leave

Welsh international Simon Church will be allowed to leave Stadium MK, but only when MK Dons sign a replacement striker - and that could be within the next 48 hours.

The 27-year-old hasn’t played for Karl Robinson’s side since January and spent the second half of last season on loan at Aberdeen.

He was a part of the Welsh side which reached the semi finals of the European Championships in the summer, but Robinson confirmed he has a move away already agreed, but it is reliant upon Dons bringing in a replacement first.

And that could be a deal done by early next week, with Robinson having met his target at Stadium MK on Friday night before the 1-0 win over Shrewsbury on the opening day of the season.“Simon Church is injured at the moment,” Robinson said. “We know he has somewhere else to go, but he won’t go anywhere until we bring a striker in. We’d like him to have a future here. He had an amazing summer, he came on in the European Championship semi finals, but we have to make sure we do right by him.

“I met with a striker yesterday, so now it’s just a case of getting the deals done.

“We had a player at the stadium last night, but we’ve still got a lot of work to put in over the next 48 hours. We also want another two players.”
