MK Dons have been without a manager for nearly three weeks, but chairman Pete Winkelman is yet to interview a replacement for Karl Robinson.
Robinson left the club after six-and-a-half years in charge on October 23, but as of November 9, the Dons owner has hinted he is yet to interview a candidate to fill the position.
While Tottenham's Head of Recruitment Paul Mitchell and former Bristol City boss Steve Cotterill are among the favourites, Winkelman said he isn't going to be rushed into a decision, instead saying he wants to research candidates before even considering holding formal interviews.
"The manager is the most important man at the club," chairman told mkdons.com. "It is taking more time than I'd hoped because we're trying to make the right decision.
"However much pressure I'm being put under, I'm not ready to give them answers yet. Hopefully over the next couple of weeks, we will be. My real time frame is by the end of November.
"I know it might seem frustrating to people, because I know how pressured I am, but we haven't changed a manager for six and a half years. We've had some amazing managers I've always been very successful in appointing the right managers in the past. But we had time to do that in the summers. This time, I felt under pressure because time felt more limited, but I have to do it the right way. If I did something and regretted it, it would live with me for a long time.
"At some point, when I'm sure the people I'm going to interview really could do the job, I'd just offer it to them - that's the position I want to be in.Ultimately, someone has to impress me in an interview when we get around to that. And if they impress me in an interview, they'll probably get the job.
"I don't want to be one of those chairman who interviews four or five people, when he knows only one person will get the job. That's not us. We want to appoint someone who really wants the job, and I believe can do the job. I need, in an interview, to be able to say 'yes, let's go do it.'
"I'm not going to be pressured into making a rash decision or hold four interviews to look like I'm doing something. I'm on the phone continuously for a few weeks. I'm starting to enjoy the process as well, after finding it a stress and hassle. There are some great experienced managers out there, and for once I'm not writing them off."
