Player ratings Vs Coventry: Powell bounces back with fine strike

editorial image

David Martin - 6 - Won’t be pleased with the second goal in particular. Has now shipped seven in two games.

Dean Lewington - 6 - Another game the skipper won’t be putting in his highlights reel. Got caught too far up field for Coventry’s first and third goals.Adam Chicksen - 7 - His every touch is urged on by the home fans, and he is beginning to get used to it. Enjoyed spells with Powell in attacking positions, but it just didn’t happen for them.

Antony Kay -6 - Good in the air as ever, but will have wanted to do much better with Elliot’s third as he was turned too easily.

Shaun Williams - 6 - Better now he’s back at the centre of defence, but not a sparkling performance by any means. Got out-jumped at the far post for City’s second.

Darren Potter - 6 - Doesn’t seem the same without Gleeson. Radar seemed out or kilter, and seemed to dwell on the ball too much.

Dele Alli - 6 - Not a bad performance from the teenager, but lacked the confidence on the ball he showed against Cambridge.

Alan Smith - 5 - Picked up a silly early booking and had to take the edge off his game for the remainder. Had little influence though.

Dean Bowditch - 7 - Looked dangerous cutting in from the flank in the first half, but a lot of chopping and changing saw him drop deeper for the second.

Daniel Powell - 7 - After his poor showing on Boxing Day, Powell returned to something close to his form. Took his goal well, and looked confident again.

Ryan Lowe - 7 - Another good strike to keep his tally ticking over. Didn’t see much of the ball in the second period and was replaced by Charlie MacDonald.

Subs:

Balanta - 6 - Missed an absolute sitter at the death, but wasa bit hit-and-miss.

Ismail - 6 - Almost tried too hard to make an impact. Lost the ball all too often.

MacDonald - 6 - Barely touched the ball in his brief time on the field.
