Robbo brands Madden a ‘cheat’ for getting Kay sent off
KARL Robinson pointed the finger at Yeovil hero Paddy Madden for ‘cheating’ to get Antony Kay sent off during Dons’ 2-1 defeat at Huish Park on Tuesday.
The pair clashed on the hour mark, with Kay being sent off after referee Mick Russell consulted with his linesman following the off-the-ball incident when the scores were at 1-1.
Robinson the incident was what cost his side the game, but that he had video footage of other incidents which went unpunished by the referee.
Explaining the Kay sending off, he said: “The guy has run at Antony Kay. He stopped a millimetre from his nose. Antony has put his hands up to protect his chest, and the guy has gone down holding his face.
“He cheated. It’s not nice to say.
“We got told by officials today that we’re too honest. Shaun Williams nearly got his leg broken and jumped back up, hobbled around. But there wasn’t a booking for it.
“Izale McLeod got punched twice and luckily for us, we have fantastic video footage of all the incidents.
“Ryan Lowe has got a finger in the eye, and he can’t see out of it. But it was a trailing arm.
“I’ll have to make sure there’s plenty of charge on my phone for when I phone the referees association.
“They say we have to treat referees with more dignity and class - get your decisions right and we’ll treat you with dignity and class.”
“We don’t dive, go down, don’t feign injury.
“But credit to Yeovil.”
Sending off aside, Robinson admitted that the performance was not Dons at their finest, but pointed fingers at the Huish Park pitch, which cut up to resemble a ploughed field by the end of the game.
Robinson added; “It wasn’t great and it wasn’t us at our best. The problem for me was the first 20 minutes. We didn’t seem at it. We looked lathargic, lazy, sloppy and unorganised - not like us at all.
“The pitch is a shambles. They say both teams have to play on it, but after Saturday which it was very physical, it took a lot out of us.”
And Chris Lines too looked impressive on his debut for Dons.
“He did really well having not played for a while,” he added. “I thought the way he passed and his energy levels were really good, and he’ll be a good player for us.”
