The game was almost over before it began as three goals in the opening 14 minutes put Dons comfortably in control.

Ben Reeves opened the scoring from the edge of the box, before 17-year-old Brandon Thomas-Asante poked home his first goal for the club.

Kieran Agard directed Reeves’ wayward shot in for number three before the visitors got themselves on the scoresheet as Joseph Tait headed past Lee Nicholls.

Dons were in total control throughout, Spennymoor threatened to make it a tense finale when Andrew Johnson pulled another one back with seven minutes to go, but Dons easily saw the game out.

The second round draw takes place on Monday night.
