Newport Pagnell Town couldn’t make it back-to-back victories on Tuesday night as they were thumped 6-0 by Yaxley.
Trailing 2-0 at half time, four second half goals from the home side saw Yaxley comfortably home after Newport’s promising 4-1 win over Holbeach on Saturday.
Jamie Nicholls opened the scoring for the Swans as he prodded home from close range.
And they didn’t have to wait long as Joel McCormick doubled the lead just a minute later with a fine effort.
Newport would go in at the break 3-0 up when McCormick capitalised on some indecision in the Holbeach box.
McCormick missed his chance to wrap up a hat-trick early in the second period, seeing his penalty kick saved by the Holbeach keeper.
Tom Waumsley reduced the arrears for Holbeach with 54 minutes gone, but they were reduced to 10 men after what appeared to be a stamp on a Newport player.
Craig Ralph sealed the Swans success after 72 minutes when like a true striker latched on to a cross to finish pass the keeper to make it 4-1.
Stony Stratford’s torrid season continues as they were comprehensively beaten 6-1 by Amersham Town in Spartan Midlands Division 1 to stay 17th in the table.
Wolverton are up to seventh in Division Two after a Jamie Risebrow hat-trick helped them to a 3-1 win over Grendon Rangers.
Willen remain second from bottom after a 5-1 hammering at the hands of Brimsdown. Karl Ainsley was on the scoresheet for Willen.
And Old Bradwell are still without a point after losing 2-1 to Tring.
