North Bucks League round-up: Chasing pack keep pace at the top

LOUGHTON Manor and City Colts took their opportunity to put the pressure on Premier Division leaders Great Horwood as both sides recorded good wins.

With Horwood pencilled in for Interdivisional Trophy action, City Colts moved to within a point of top spot thanks to a 3-1 win at Stewkley, while Loughton are a further three points back in fourth place after seeing off Grendon Rangers 4-3.

Horwood’s preliminary round Trophy clash against Cage Athletic was cancelled in the end, but ties that did go ahead saw AFC Santander beaten 4-2 by Hanslope in their all Intermediate Division clash, while Premier Division side Great Linford thumped Division Two’s St George’s 5-0 and Stoke Hammond of Division One beat Wing Village from the bottom tier 5-2.

In the Intermediate Division, City Colts Res beat Wicken Sports 4-2, Woburn Sands Wanderers saw off Denbigh Hall Sports 2-1 and Wolverton Town Res won a nine-goal thriller against Syresham.

Division One leaders Bow Brickhill Res edged past Deanshanger Res by the odd goal in seven to stretch their lead at the top of the table to 17 points, while Great Linford Res beat Wicken Sports Res 2-1 and Woughton were awarded the points after Bletchley Bridge failed to raise a side.

Comet MK made it eight wins out of eight in Division Two when they beat Westbury 4-0, but they remain second in the table behind Great Horwood Res who edged past Yardley Gobion Res 3-2 and have played three more games.

Elsewhere Scot thumped Silverstone Res 4-2, Stantonbury Social Elite were 1-0 winners against MK Wanderers ‘A’ and Padbury Village Res shared the points and six goals with Hanslope Res.
